The Granville Island Trust is an advisory body to CMHC's Granville Island Office. The Board of Trustees is composed of nine members, including a Chair. The Trust has representation from Granville Island, local area residents and the City of Vancouver. Its members also represent a broad range of expertise including business, government, the arts, urban development and public relations. The Trust advises CMHC on a wide range of subjects and deals with various issues, such as public meetings, planning, and new development. The Trust acts as a liaison with Granville Island tenants and acts as a link to the Minister responsible for CMHC and local elected representatives.

Michael F. Chan, B.Comm, CA, MBA
Michael Chan is the President of Allied Hotel Properties Inc., a company involved in the ownership and management of hotels. Mr. Chan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Urban Land Economics from The University of British Columbia, a degree of Master of Business Administration from Asia Pacific International Graduate School of Management, and is a Chartered Accountant. Mr. Chan is also a Public Representative on the Board of the College of Registered Nurses of B.C.

Ray Holdgate
Ray was born a raised in Vancouver and Joined the City of Vancouver as a Fire Fighter in 1974. Ray is currently the Fire Chief of Vancouver and a member of the City's Corporate Management Team (CMT) . He is the City representative on the Granville Island Trust and takes great pride in participating in the ongoing development of the Island to ensure it continues to provide enjoyment for future Generations.

Alma Lee
Alma Lee was the founding Artistic Director of the Vancouver International Writers & Readers Festival; for the past 19 years one of Granville Island’s most prestigious cultural events. She also was the founding Executive Director of The Writers’ Union of Canada and The Writers’ Trust. Ms. Lee retired from the Writers Festival in December 2006 and is currently enjoying new challenges. almalee@telus.net
Maia Low (Chair)
Maia Low is an Architectural Professional currently employed at Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden Architects + Urbanistes. She has worked on numerous local projects from single family residential to large master planning projects. Maia has sat on the Trust for six years, and is a firm believer in pushing the Island to continue it's barrier breaking initiatives while at the same time nurturing the talent that makes Granville Island the special place it is today.

Ethel Ann Niessen
Ethel has spent many years as an Events Organizer, Fund Raiser and Teacher. Currently Ethel is an administrative Assistant who organizes conferences, seminars and workshops on many innovative and diverse topics. Ethel has sat on many boards and currently sits on the Arthur Erickson Foundation and the Granville Island Trust.

Jane Shackell
Jane Shackell QC is associate counsel with Miller Thomson LLP in Vancouver,
practicing corporate and commercial law, including mergers and
acquisitions, commercial leasing and finance, and other matter. She is a Chartered Arbitrator, a Life Bencher of the Law Society of British
Columbia, and a Governor of the Justice Institute of B.C.
