It's Blowin' Glowin' and Growin' on Bowen. Arts Club Theatre

Granville Island boasts many cultural venues including the Arts Club Theatre, the Arts Club Revue Theatre, the Playwrights Theatre Centre Studio, the Waterfront Theatre and the multipurpose space called Performance Works.

The Arts Club Theatre is housed in a former chain factory next to the Public Market and is as much known for the character of the theatre as for the talent of its performers.  The zany, world-famous improv troupe, Vancouver TheatreSports League, calls the Arts Club Revue Theatre home.  The Playwrights Theatre Centre Studio is an intimate space located in Festival House that is ideal for script readings and lectures.  The Waterfront Theatre, renovated from a machinery building over 20 years ago, hosts a myriad of theatre productions and Performance Works is a multifunctional, flexible black box theatre space (converted from a machine shop dating back to the 1920’s) that is booked year round with many of Vancouver’s most exciting performance events and productions.  The Waterfront Theatre and Performance Works are managed by the Granville Island Cultural Society.

Several acclaimed theatre companies and associations are also based on the Island:  e.g. Carousel Theatre Company, the Playwrights’ Theatre Centre, the Greater Vancouver Professional Theatres Association; Axis Mime; Ruby Slippers Theatre; Pi Theatre; Theatre Conspiracy and Boca del Lupo.
